Donor Privacy
How we handle your information.
Effective: 2026-05-06 · Last reviewed: 2026-05-06
When you donate to Huezo Rising Foundation, we collect only what we need to process your gift, send your tax receipt, and keep our records. We never sell, rent, or trade donor information. We never publish donor lists without your written, opt-in permission.
What we collect
- Required: name, email address, donation amount, donation date, payment method, transaction identifier
- Optional: mailing address (for paper acknowledgments only)
- Automatically logged for fraud prevention: IP address, browser info, the pages you visited on our site
We do not ask for or store credit card numbers. Card and bank-account data is collected directly by our payment processors (Stripe and PayPal) on their own infrastructure — it never reaches us.
How we use it
- To process your donation and prevent fraud
- To send your tax receipt and your year-end giving statement (both of which you'll need for tax filing)
- To send optional updates if you've subscribed to our newsletter (one email a month, max — unsubscribe link in every email)
- To produce internal reports and Form 990 filings as required by the IRS
We use Resend for transactional email delivery, under a data-processor agreement.
What we will never do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade donor information to anyone, ever.
- We do not share your donation amount, donor list inclusion, or any identifying information with other charities, vendors, or marketers.
- We do not publish donor lists, "wall of donors," or named recognition without your explicit, written, opt-in permission.
- We do not condition program access on donation status — participants receive the program for free regardless of who funds it.
Who can see your information
- Foundation staff and volunteers with a documented need (donation processing, accounting, tax filing).
- Our payment processors (Stripe, PayPal) and email service (Resend), each under their own privacy policy and data-processor agreement.
- Our accountant and auditors, for tax and financial filings.
- Government agencies when required by law. Form 990 schedules and state attorney-general filings do not include donor names for individual donors below regulatory thresholds.
How long we keep it
- Donation records: 7 years (IRS substantiation requirement)
- Email delivery logs (Resend): Resend's standard retention (~30 days)
- Newsletter subscriber list: until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- Server access logs: rotated/purged at hosting provider's standard schedule
Your rights
You can:
- Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Delete your record entirely (we'll keep only what we're legally required to retain — basically the receipt for IRS tax substantiation)
- Unsubscribe from any non-transactional email immediately, via the link in every email
Email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy request" and we'll respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
If you live in California, you have additional rights under the CCPA: the right to know what we collect, the right to delete (within exceptions), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information, so opt-out of sale does not apply. Same email applies.
Children
Huezo Rising Foundation does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will be announced via the newsletter and on the homepage for 30 days.
